Pat’s artistic vision began with the unique light and forms of the sandhills, and prairies of her native Nebraska. After graduating from the University of Nebraska with a BA in education and an art minor, a move to Montana in the mid-70’s opened her eyes to the spectacular scenery and abundant wildlife in a region surrounded by Yellowstone, Teton and Glacier National Parks.
During Pat’s teaching career of 34 years, she continued her own painting and participated in workshops and classes from professional artists within her geographical area. She was instrumental in beginning an art auction of student work within her own school, and provided art in-services for teacher throughout her district. Following retirement from teaching she is painting fulltime.
Pat’s passionate connection to the land and to the animals inhabiting it have come from many years of hiking, observing, and photographing her corner of the Rocky Mountain West. These themes comprise the majority of her most current work.
